Poacher's Delight. White Rhino cow and calf

This is my contribution to the Strathmore Pass the Journal project. Starthmore the paper manufacturers, are sending a number of journals around the world to artists to fill in. Elephants at the Waterhole

I have just completed this small drawing, using animals taken from various reference photos and using Photoshop combined them into a pleasing composition.
Size: 12.5 x 4.5
Support: Mellotex paper
Pencils: Mechanicals: 3B 3MM and HB 0.5mm and a 6B woody for the darks.

Elephants in the Dust

A family of elephant wander across the dusty plains looking for water. 

My second one done on cradled board using Faber Castell coloured pencils. The texture is very obvious in the photo but it looks much better hanging on the wall. It is quite small, measuring 15" x 7". Now that I can buy these cradled  (boxed) boards here in the UK I will probably be doing more of them. I do like the unusual finish that the texture brings to coloured pencils, just something a little different.

Zebra Foal finished

I don't think this experiment worked all that well, but here it is completed.....for what it's worth. The acrylic is too slippery to take cp well, but when I have time I will try again using colorfix primer. I am not too unhappy with it but it is a much looser style to my usual, so I wont bin it, it just was not what I was aiming for.

Meerkats finished

The Meerkats are now done and all I need to do is pack them up and send them off to their new home. I have called it  'The Lookouts'.
