Looking Back - over my shoulder

This is what I have been working on the last couple of days.....I just cant keep away from the animals...hoo boy!

I found some old sheets of Velour paper in the bottom of my cupboard and thought I would use them up. This is the first of them, done on black velour, size approx A4, using a variety of pastels from sticks to pencils, all different brands, whichever seemed to work best. I am still not sure if I like velour...which is probably why it ended up in the bottom of the cupboard.

  1. Bev,I really appreciate this lovely image, which must have taken you ages to do so well. Being from South Africa, I know zebras well, and you have succeeded in capturing the lovely shine one sees on the white stripes.

  2. Bev, this is absolutely gorgeous!!!! I agree you have done a wonderful job on the zebra, I love it!

  3. Thank you Marie, I have been wanting to do a Zebra for a very long time and finaly got around to doing one. I guess I love them so much as they are really just another type of horse.

Thanks for the encouraging words Gemma.

  4. Really beautiful artwork, Bev. I love the pose and the background too. Stunning! :)

  5. Hi Bev, I think I've worked out how to subscribe now! Love your sebra. I'm also playing a lot with pastels at the moment, and have tried the velour - jury is still out. But I love your image, the background is beautiful too.

  6. I've only seen a few painting done on velour, and let me tell you yours is out standing.
