GSD- Pastels on Fisher 400

Meet Yager, a beautiful GSD girl. I took loads of photos of her but this one was by far the best with her bright interested expression. It is very formal, I usually go for something a little less so, but I liked the way she was standing, typical GSD.

Pastels, Ashby soft sticks, Derwent and Faber Castell Pitt pastel pencils.

  2. Love this Bev. You did his wavy coat so well - not an easy task! He reminded me of the Sheppie I had as a young girl, who lived to a ripe old age.

  3. Beautiful GSD - well painted Bev. She stands out beautifully against that simple background. I think Fisher 400 and pastelmat are definitely my favoured surfaces just now.

I've been using Fisher 400 a lot recently - I wanted to get 3 dark coloured dog portraits to the 'nearly finished' stage so can get straight on with the finishing touches when back from holiday. Just wish I could stop using my fingers to blend the pastel ... the sanded paper is not forgiving on fingertips!!

LOL Sue, I know what you mean, if I ever needed to be fingerprinted, they would have a hard time finding any :-)
